From March 28 to April 3, Baltimore will be the backdrop of Light City Baltimore, the nation’s first international light festival. Light City will be a celebration unlike any other; a festival showcasing the beauty of ideas, innovation, creation and ingenuity with art, music and lights. We’ve compiled a guide to Light City Baltimore so you can make the most out of this exciting event.

Innovation Conferences

Light City Baltimore will host several Innovation Conferences at the Columbus Center, a part of the UMBC campus and City Garage business center.

  • [March 28-29 9 a.m.. Columbus Center] Social Innovation Conference: Reimagining the Status Quo – Leaders in social enterprise, education and social justice will discuss solutions to social problems faced by societies around the world.
  • [March 30-31 9 a.m.. Columbus Center] Health Innovation Conference: Creating a Healthier Future – Local and national healthcare innovators will share ideas, practices and new technologies that are shaping the future of healthcare around the world.
  • [March 30-31 9 a.m.. Columbus Center] Sustainability Innovation Conference: Moving Smart Energy Forward – Experts in green energy will tackle the toughest issues in sustainability while looking forward to creating a greener future.
  • [April 1-2 9 a.m.. City Garage] Creative Innovation Conference: Designing Our Future – Creative thinkers, designers, artists and storytellers will gather to share inspiring ideas and tools to change the world for the better.

Music

A plethora of musical artists will perform throughout the week of Light City Baltimore. A wide spectrum of performers from DJs and rock bands to jazz orchestras and classical string groups will take stages throughout Baltimore as part of the festival. Catch free DJ performances at the Club Light City stage, watch a battle of the bands at the Hard Rock, and catch other awesome artists at the Harbor East Concert Stage. Other Performances

Dancers, puppeteers and an assortment of other innovative performers will be lighting up Baltimore with performances at the Street Theater at the Inner Harbor, the Amphitheater at Pratt and Light Streets and along the BGE Light Art Walk. Click here for a full list of performers.

Light Artists

Beautiful displays of light artistry will be showcased throughout Baltimore at two different venues, along with Neighborhood Lights displays in five different Baltimore neighborhoods. The BGE Light Art Walk will host more than fifty attractions and performers, and the Mini Light City in Pierce’s Park will feature interactive crafts and entertainment great for the whole family. Visit the Coldstream, Homestead, Montebello Community, Hampden, greater Mondawmin, Little Italy and the Station North Arts and Entertainment District to see the Neighborhood Lights displays.
